The faithful of Omiš celebrate the holiday season by visiting several churches. Besides the St. Michael Parish Church, Holy Spirit Church, St. Peter Church, many will reaffirm their religious beliefs at the Midnight Mass, and welcome the first hours of the Christmas Day at the newly built Saint Peter the Apostle Church on Priko. This church was consecrated by the Archbishop of Split-Makarska, Marin Barišić.
The new church and a pastoral center take up approximately 1100 m2 (11840 ft2). It is worth mentioning that the Priko-Omiš Parish consists of 3500 parishioners and it was established by Ante Jurić’s Decree of 02 August 1999.
Fr. Ivan Delić, who was appointed the first parish priest, points out that he has only positive experiences with the parishioners. He also says the new Parish consists of two former parishes, the Omiš Parish on the right side of the Cetina River, and part of the Duće Parish.
Many of those who visit the new church with a structure that reminds the locals of the nearby old St. Peter Church, will also get to enjoy the beauty of the mosaic made by Botteri.
Happy holidays.
