The town of Omiš is known for its long tradition of piracy with several forts to serve as proof, Fortica being one of them.
Fortica was used to monitor the arrival of ships in the Omiš maritime zone. It has a specific structure, and is located on top of Dinara. As of recently, Fortica has become a popular tourist attraction. It offers a breathtaking view of the entire town, the Cetina River canyon, and in the distance, the islands of Brač, Hvar and Šolta, as well as Middle Poljica. Many who have visited the fort still remember the fresh air and breathtaking view… If you want to experience the same thing, energy and stamina is what you need to get out of the center and onto a path with numerous sign posts that will lead the way to this “beauty”. So take 20 minutes out of your schedule and pass through the Bačići settlement in order to get to Fortica and enjoy everything it has to offer.
