Brusje is a village found only few kilometres away from Hvar. It used to be a shepherd settlement, but later turned to the production of wine, olive oil, rosemary oil and honey.
This former shepherd settlement emerged in the 16th century. It is characterized by several rustic mutually connected stone houses which form picturesque architectural landmarks. At the access to the village are the 16th century ruins of two villas.
Brusje today forms suburban area of Hvar and is a popular excursion site among all those who wish to see and experience rural ambient of the sunniest Croatian island. The patron of Brusje is saint George and is celebrated in April. If you think of visiting Hvar, make sure you don’t forget to visit Brusje, its beauty in stone in a true Dalmatian rural ambience.
