The silence of Olib speaks volumes…

The Olib island is situated on the boarder line area between Dalmatia and Kvarner, island Pag in the east from which it is divided by the Pohlip Channel, and Silba in the west, from which is divided by the Olib Channel.
This beautiful island has been settled ever since the Ancient period. It was firstly recorded under name “Aloip ” by Greek historian Strabo and later on by the Byzantine Emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus in the 10th century. The Banjve bay treasures the remains of a settlement from Roman period, as well as a three-nave Church of Saint Paul and a hermit monastery abandoned at the end of the 12th century, while the St Nicholas Bay with a church of the same name is the most protected of all, but southern winds, and is suitable for anchoring. Mostly sandy and shallow beeches are adorned with numerous sea rocks. This flattened island has a highest peak Kalac, only 74m high. It is mostly visited by the lovers of impressive sandy beeches and bays. Sport activities like biking, sport fishing and sailing, in addition to rich gastronomic offer of good quality fish, olive oil, wine and cheese, between the sightseeing trips and peace one can enjoy in the nature of Olib will surely make an unforgettable vacation for any visitor.
