Riva, Zadar waterfront, oozes beauty…

The Zadar waterfront, or Riva as locals refer to it, is an ideal place to take a nice walk by the sea, and enjoy the exuberant vegetation, especially the magnificent palm trees. The Riva offers a breathtaking view of the beauty of Zadar channel, islands of Ugljan and Pašman, as well as the open water in the northwest.

The Riva traces back its origins to 1868. Numerous facilities for public and private use have been built which help Zadar take the role of the place of fancy stores and public areas, luxury cafes and hotels, and public libraries. Back then, the ”new” Riva started to witness the construction, which lasted until 1906, of 18 grand palaces, docks for fast, luxury passenger ships, cultivated gardens and promenades which served as gathering places for the locals.
Thanks to the Sea organ, the Riva was revived again, attracting more and more inhabitants of Zadar and tourists alike.
The Riva is a unique place where you can enjoy, as the locals say, the most stunning sunset in the world.
