Riding a wave of adrenaline

Thanks to the close proximity of the Paklenica National Park and Velebit Nature Park, the Zadar area is a top destination for those who seek active holidays spent exploring mountain roads and trails or karst landscape.
With 150 km (93 miles) of maintained hiking trails, Paklenica and Velebit are especially popular among the more experienced hikers. Trekking (also known as backpacking) competitions held throughout the year attract many amateurs as well as professional athletes.

That being said, why don’t you bring out your adventurous side and try rock climbing in the Velika (Big) Paklenica Canyon? Or maybe conquering cliffs of Starigrad Paklenica? How about bridging, abseiling or via ferrata, jeep safari on the beautiful Velebit following the footsteps of Winnetou…?
If you prefer low-altitude activities, why not go for water adventures? The Zrmanja River offers rafting or should we say, guaranteed adrenaline rush, and kayaking and canoe safari if you want to take it easy. If you’re interested in learning new water sports’ techniques, you can take a course at the Nin’s Lagoon Beach. There’s also a windsurfing school at the Queen’s Beach, and if you’re keen on getting acquainted with the art of kiteboarding, visit the sandy beach of Ždrijac. Have fun!
