Promajna inserted between the mountain and the sea

Promajna is a tourist village that entirely lies beneath the Adriatic Highway which seems as if it has somehow imposed itself between the Bratuš settlement in the east and Baška Voda in the west. Promajna emerged in the 17th century as a residence of fishermen and farmers. The whole area is dominated by a pebble beach with diverse accommodation for tourists. It’s interesting to note the origin of the name Promajna. It got its name after the sun which creates the most beautiful scenes as it pleasingly raises above the Biokovo mountain and freely spreads its rays towards the sea.

Fresh air carried by the mild wind is furthermore enriched with an oxygen as to descend from the mountain over the greenery of pine and olive trees and vineyards, all the way to the white beach of the peaceful Promajna bay to be mixed with the scent of crystal clear sea. Hard-working and hospitable hosts have transformed this settlement, once inhabited by fishermen and farmers, into one of the most precious tourist pearls of Dalmatia where many people come to rest and restore their health and life energy. Regardless of season, one can always enjoy this unique connection of the mountain and the sea, not forgetting the hospitality and Dalmatian temperament of the local people.
