How to meet Dubrovnik on foot

The best way to truly meet the essence of Dubrovnik is on foot. So, if you are ready for a walking adventure and wish to introduce to “the pearl from south”, you’ll have the opportunity to discover its streets, little allies scented with freshly washed clothes hanging on a stretched wire, stone houses, potted plants on wrought-iron balustrades, glorietts adorned with flowering vine plants, parks where the fruits of acidic oranges bend their ever-green boughs during the whole winter up to the late spring, boats anchored in a port, the allure of the sea and contour lines of distant islands. Even the smallest detail can be explored this way, the one by which you would normally pass by car or a bus not even noticing.

Historical core of Dubrovnik is a walking zone, almost in its entirety. Therefore, each time you take a stroll around the town, you may discover some new details carved in stone, perhaps a small church or even some hidden ally. From any part of the town one can easily reach the Gate Pile or the Gate of Ploče, western and eastern entrance to Dubrovnik’s Old Town. From the Gruž Port, which is usually full of cruising ships, you can arrive at the Lapad bay, also a walking zone, for a less than half an hour walk, and it takes only forty minutes to reach the Walls of Dubrovnik.
In order to properly meet all the corners of Dubrovnik, make sure you use a map and enjoy every step you take.
