Sustjepan is an inhabited place situated on the west entrance of the urban area of Dubrovnik, using newly built Dr. Franjo Tuđman bridge as the point of direction.
It got its name after St. Stephen the Martyr which is celebrated in late December. The right church altar, situated by the main altar and dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, bears the same name.
Sustjepan is actually a part of Župa dubrovačka, located right by the Jadran tourist road, and only 5 km from Stradun and the old city center, and thanks to its placement, it gently touches the west slope of the Srđ Hill.
Sustjepan is home to three churches, St. Anthony’s Church, St. Stephen’s Church, and St. Nicholas’ Chapel built on the local cemetery.
Tourism and fishing have become one with the citizens of this place a long time ago. Thanks to the proximity of the well-known city of St. Blaise, further economic growth is expected.
