Granny knows best!

If somebody knows best how to treat health problems, than definitively grannies are the ones to be asked since they are familiar with the recipes of traditional medicine, the knowledge which was passed on to them by their grannies, and that wisdom would surely be a waste not to use since after all, this involved an approach that was much more in touch with nature, something that is rather neglected today.
Immunity boosters
Honey and lemon! Remove the seeds from a half kilo of lemon, but leave the peels and blend this mixture. Add a half kilo of warm honey and put it in mason jars. Take one tablespoon every morning.

Hair loss
The potency of home-made brandy and a couple of garlic cloves with some nettle is indisputable. Put several coves of garlic in one litre of grape brandy and add one fist of nettle root. Leave this preparation to sit on some warm and sunny place for a month and then strain. Massage the liquid onto your scalp.

Swollen tonsils
Take marshmallow root and flax seed, crunch well and blend. Mix them and heat until it turns hot. Put this hot mixture on a linen cloth and coat your neck with it. To keep this compress warm, put another cloth over this one.

Gallbladder problems
Pains arising from the gallbladder or biliary tree can be alleviated by using a mixture of 150 grams of olive oil, 15 grams of bourbon and two egg yolks. Mix these ingredients for 15 minutes and add one quarter of gram of menthol. Take the preparation just before you feel the pain is about to start. Another way to tackle this problem is to drink black radish juice, which is easy to make – simply grate black radish and squeeze the juice. Take this juice three times a day.

Stomach pain
1. Drink mulled wine, mixed with paprika, mint, cumin and frankincense white.
2. Cook red mint in some water and drink.
3. Consummate heather with sage.

Knee pain
Crunch some spruce berries and add apple vinegar. Cook well, but add clay during the process and coat your knee with this.

Many would easily dismiss granny’s methods considering them out-of-date. But our elderly knew exactly what they were doing and have now science to attest something they had already confirmed through practice who knows how many years ago. Therefore, we would do our best and seek more advice from our grannies who will, I’m sure, be glad to share their wisdom with us.
