”Face” of a building

Facade. A window into the inner world of every building. It has the ability to lure you in or shut you out. It can reveal deepest secrets or keep them hidden so that you can’t even imagine what lies behind. It can be full of colors or dressed in a single one. Made of stone, concrete or some sort of combo. With numerous openings or none at all. Creating an unearthly feeling of wonder as you pass by or leaving you completely unimpressed.

From an architect’s standpoint, it represents the finished product, the end of an entire design process which, among other things, finds the purpose of a particular building, its use. There are so many things it can and wishes to tell us. When you stop to take a look at one, you can’t help but think how much effort and hard work it takes to create something like that, hours and hours of decision-making, and all those nerve-racking moments and sleepless nights when inspiration is nowhere to be found… And then, the feeling when everything falls into place – it’s priceless.

Facade serving as an architect’s communication medium with the rest of the world? What is it trying to say? Take a look at the pictures and let them lead you into an entirely new universe.
