Have you ever wondered if your beauty routines do more harm than good? Here’s a chance to test your beauty knowledge, and see if you’re unconsiously making mistakes.
BODY AND NAILS
DON’T take long hot showers.
Although it does have a soothing effect, hot water removes the protective fatty layer from the skin and inhibits it to preserve the necessary moisture which in turn leads to dry skin.
DO apply moisturizing milk onto damp skin, and bear in mind you use lukewarm water when taking a shower, and dry skin will be a thing of the past.
DON’T file your nails in different directions because up-and-down motion tends to cause damage. And DON’T use a metal file; it’s very bad for your nails.
DO file your nails in one direction. Always.
This will come as a surprise, but it’s true. DON’T apply anti-aging cream before you go to bed because you’ll just get the opposite effect.
If the cream didn’t entirely blend in your skin, it might find its way into your eyes and create a swollen look. So DO apply it at least 20 minutes before bedtime.
DON’T excessively use anti-acne preparations.
DO try to refrain yourself from attacking acne as soon as you spot one with invasive treatments. Instead go for mild ones. Studies have shown that they do the job, and at the same time don’t cause inflammation, or excessive fat or acne production.
DON’T use light liquid foundation shades.
If you’re having difficulties finding the right shade, DO try using BB creams together with liquid foundations. Even if it’s a shade too dark, it’ll adjust better to your skin type. Just imagine how unattractive it looks when the color of your neck doesn’t match the color of your face.
DON’T brush your hair the wrong way.
You’re probably thinking the reason your hair is falling out is some sort of a disorder, but it might just be that you’re not combing your hair properly. Next time your hair is a mess, DO comb the ends first with a wide toothed comb, and then work your way up to the roots.
DON’T use masks for freshly colored hair.
Although it’s seems normal to apply a mask on your freshly colored hair, experts say that they can cause your new hair dye to rinse out faster, so make sure you DO use a mask that will create a protective layer and make your hair look healthier and the color brighter.
